I am no stranger to tragedy. I lost my mother at an early age. It is one of the reasons I joined the LAPD and worked hard to become a detective.
A suspension provided me the rare opportunity to return home, a place I had not been in many years. I would see a father with whom I am estranged and have a chance to reopen my mother's cold case.
